I’ve been experimenting with ChatGPT for the last couple of days and found it INCREDIBLY useful for learning new skills, especially those that are well-defined and well-documented.

For example, I wanted to learn to code in JavaScript, so I used the following prompt:

“You are the best programming teacher in the world with incredible knowledge of philosophy, pedagogy, mathematics, computer science, etc. Use the best teaching styles and methods to teach me how to program a functional web application in JavaScript in the simplest and most understandable way possible. Cut out unnecessary summaries and fluff, explain the practical implications of any concept, and use relevant analogies related to simple programming principles. Be precise and don’t abstract away any concepts that haven’t been properly explained. If there are prerequisite concepts I need to know, explain them first or ask if I’m familiar with them before explaining the main answer. Start with the basics of web programming and explain the ‘why’ before the ‘what’.”

To my surprise, the AI actually asked me about my prior knowledge of HTML and…
