The Untold Truth About Public Wifi Networks
Free wifi may not be as safe as you think…
The internet has become a necessity in our everyday lives. From streaming videos on Youtube to browsing the web and working from home, we are becoming more and more reliant on getting a good connection!
Accessing the internet isn’t usually a problem when you’re within the confines of your own home - the wifi is secure, easy to connect to, and relatively uncongested - that is unless your whole family is watching Netflix on 10 different devices!
It becomes a different story when you step outside as even though you can access free wifi almost anywhere - from your local Starbucks and Mcdonalds to the public library and supermarket, getting online may not be always as safe and secure as you think it is!
The Problem
Public wifi networks are inherently less secure than your personal home connection, simply because you don’t know how it was set up, who has administrative access to it and who is connected to it.
This becomes the perfect playing field for any hacker or thief to steal your personal information and they can do this through many different ways from man-in-the-middle attacks to setting up rogue networks for you to connect to!
